Care Guide

Vionetto carries a range of formal evening wear, including gowns and dress sets featuring delicate embellishments such as beading, 3D floral appliqués, rhinestones, and sheer overlays. Because construction and materials vary from piece to piece, always check the care label sewn into your garment and any care notes listed on its product page before applying any cleaning or maintenance step. The guidance below covers general precautions that apply to the types of details found across our collection, but it does not override a specific garment's own instructions.

Locate Your Garment's Care Information First

Every Vionetto piece should carry an interior care label. If you cannot find a label, or if the label is missing or illegible, refer back to the product page where you purchased the item. If neither source provides clear instructions, contact our support team before attempting any cleaning process.

Protecting Embellishments and Sheer Layers

Many of our evening gowns feature beaded yokes, crystal accents, dimensional 3D floral petals, and sheer tulle or mesh overlays. These elements are hand-placed or machine-applied to the outer layer and can loosen or snag under pressure, friction, or contact with rough surfaces.

  • When putting on or removing a gown, hold the fabric at the seams rather than pulling it across beads or appliqués.
  • Avoid leaning against textured walls, rough chair backs, or car seat covers that can catch on protruding embellishments.
  • Keep jewelry, handbags with metal clasps, and scarves clear of beaded necklines and cap sleeves.
  • Do not press, fold, or stack weight onto areas with 3D petals or fringe detailing.

Addressing Spills and Light Soiling

If a spill occurs on a sheer overlay or embellished area, act quickly but gently:

  1. Blot the affected spot with a clean, dry, white cloth. Press lightly without rubbing or scrubbing, as friction can distort gathered ruching or dislodge beads.
  2. Allow the area to air-dry flat, away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
  3. Do not apply water, stain remover, alcohol, or any solvent to embellished or sheer sections unless the care label explicitly permits it.
  4. If the stain persists, the spill reached the lining, or the garment is heavily soiled, stop and consult a professional cleaner experienced with formal evening wear.

Storing Between Events

Formal gowns with structured bodices, mermaid silhouettes, and draped ruching can lose their shape if compressed or hung improperly.

  • Hang the garment on a padded hanger that supports the shoulders without creating point pressure on beaded straps or cap sleeves.
  • For gowns with attached sheer capes or extended trains, drape the cape or train over the hanger arms or lay the full garment flat in a breathable cotton garment bag to avoid creasing the overlay.
  • Store in a cool, dry space away from direct sunlight, which can fade fabric colors and weaken sheer materials over time.
  • Do not store embellished garments in plastic bags, which can trap moisture and cause beads or metallic threads to tarnish.
  • Ensure zippers and hooks are fully closed before hanging to prevent accidental snagging on adjacent items in your closet.

When to Seek Professional Care

Bring your garment to a specialist cleaner rather than attempting home treatment if:

  • The care label specifies dry cleaning only.
  • Beads, sequins, or appliqués are loose or missing and need reattachment.
  • A stain has set into the lining or a multi-layered section.
  • The sheer overlay has a tear or pulled thread that could widen with handling.
  • You are unsure whether a cleaning method is safe for the specific combination of fabrics and embellishments on your piece.
